The Laugavegur is a trekking route in South-West Iceland from the hot springs area of Landmannalaugar to the glacial valley of Þórsmörk. It is noted for the wide variety of landscapes on its 55 km (34 mi) path. The route is typically completed over 2–4 days with potential stops at the mountain huts at Hrafntinnusker, Álftavatn, Hvanngil, Emstrur and Þórsmörk. An ultramarathon is held on the route each July. It is possible to combine the trek with the Fimmvörðuháls route which goes over the pass from Þórsmörk to Skógar for an additional one or two days or an additional 25 km (16 mi). Landmannalaugar, Þórsmörk, and Skógar are all reachable by bus during the summer.

Tibbet Knob Trail
Tibbet Knob is a 3.1 mile hike that starts from Wolf Gap Campground located at George Washington National Forest. This hike is short but not as family friendly because of two short, steep scrambles to the main Tibbet Knob summit. It is on the opposite side of Big Schloss and the trail is primarily used for hiking and camping. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.
Old Rag Mountain Hike
Old Rag Mountain is the most popular hiking destination in the Shenandoah valley with an elevation of 3,291 feet. It is located in the Blue Ridge Mountains of the Shenandoah National Park in Virginia’s Madison County. In contrast to other mountains in the area, Old Rag has an exposed rocky summit. This hike is very popular to new hikers in the Mid Atlantic region offering plenty of challenging sections, scrambles and gorgeous views.
